I have been treated by Alison Birtle for over 8 years. She and her team have kept me alive, for which I am very grateful and hope to be so for a long time to come yet, with her support. She sees me as an individual and gives me all the time I need. She doesn't hide behind a superficial, professional veneer, yet maintains her professional focus. Over the years, she has talked briefly about some of the changes she is making in her approach to treating prostate cancer, which is encouraging in that it shows she is open to new ideas and approaches. She's easy to talk to and a good listener, too. Thanks Alison.

Re prostrate cancer. I felt totally at ease with Dr.Birtle.She gave me facts in a straightforward manner, and gave me an avenue of thought which until now I had dismissed as not warranting consideration. Previously, I have had consultations with four doctors and two support nurses, who have all actually avoided giving an actual recommendation, which is understandable. At all times I have been given statistics and facts, but left with the 'it's your decision' situation. Dr Birtles actually told me what she would tell her father,in similar circumstances, which is what I needed. She has put a new dimension to the surveillance and monitoring option . I feel very positive now, following my meeting with Dr Birtle.

From my very first appointment with Dr. Birtle I was filled with confidence that the treatment I was about to undertake was the right way for me,that was two years ago. All my subsequent visits to her have been helpful and any concerns I may have had were professionally dealt with. She is a very friendly and caring person.

Dr Birtle has been treating my husband for advanced prostate cancer for seven years. In all that time she has been totally committed to offering the best possible care, pulling out all the stops when necessary to achieve results and whilst doing so has remained confident, caring and understanding. A great professional.

I have now been under Alison's care for over 7 years and have always found her friendly, caring and willing to take whatever time is necessary to explain everything about a new treatment and its possible effects. While she always makes it clear she is treating the patient - i.e. me, the person - and not simply a collection of symptoms. Can't imagine a better consultant.
